Sheila Hale, MSN, RN, CRNI, VA-BC

Sheila began her nursing career as an LVN in 1985 earning an ADN from Austin Community College, Austin, TX in 1993. Sheila’s BSN was awarded in 2015 followed with MSN in Leadership, 2018, from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, AZ. Sheila has been a nurse for over 30 years with practice focused on Vascular Access since 2004. She also has experience in home infusion, hospice, legal consulting and currently provides vascular access clinical education as an independent contract educator. Sheila is a founding member of Central Texas Vascular Access Network (CENTEXVAN) holding leadership offices of secretary, president, also functioning in the role of advisor and web administrator for the network. Sheila has been a member of AVA since 2009 earning Vascular Access-Board Certification (VA-BC) in 2010. She is a Certified Registered Nurse Infusionist (CRNI), and member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (STTI). In 2012, Sheila traveled to Moldova on a vascular access/education mission trip, teaching midline insertion, vessel preservation, and CPR to public and private hospital and rural clinic staff. She was honored to speak about her experience at the 2013 CENTEXVAN symposium. Sheila co-authored a vascular access clinician orientation program using Benner’s Novice to Expert learning theory and received best oral abstract for her presentation at INS 201?. Sheila was responsible for the central vascular access chapter of Infusion Therapy Made Incredibly Easy! ┬« 5thed. update, has served on the National Council of Education for INS, served as a reviewer for the 2016 INS standards, and is currently a reviewer for the prestigious Journal of Infusion Nursing. Sheila has served on the Global Strategy Committee for AVA and authored a report on vascular access and healthcare in Romania. Sheila’s vision is to bring vascular access education to nursing students as a fundamental course, and to bring attention to the need for patient inclusion in vascular access decision making.  Sheila is administrator of a popular social media site dedicated to providing resources and support for vascular access and infusion specialists serving over 4500 clinician and industry partners.

Lynn Deutsch, MSN, RN, CRNI, VA-BC

Lynn graduated in 1980 with an associate degree in applied science nursing from Niagara County Community College in Sanborn, NY.  She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from University of Texas at Arlington, TX in 2012.  She graduated in 2015 from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ with a Master of Science in nursing.  Lynn has been a Certified Registered Nurse Infusion┬« since 1997.  She is the 2015 National CRNI of the Year.  She has 20 years of experience in home infusion, ambulatory infusion, and vascular access.  She was a co-founder of CenTexVAN in 2010 and served as president from 2010-2012 and 2015-2017. Since 2008, Lynn has worked on the vascular access team at the Seton Family of Hospitals, Austin, TX.  Lynn is also an associate professor of nursing at Austin Community College since August of 2016 teaching Level 2 where RN students learn IV therapy in the clinical setting. Lynn is a member of the Association for Vascular Access, Infusion Nurses Society, American Nurses Association, Texas Nurses AssociationGolden Key International, Phi Kappa Phi International Nurses Association, Nurses Christian Fellowship, and Sigma Theta Tau International.
